ABC Tuesday Night Comedy Block, 12/12

Did this a couple of times at the old site and trying to get it revived again. Discuss the following episodes here:

Fresh Off the Boat, “Do You Hear What I Hear?” Jessica gets jealous when Paula Abdul guests and takes over directing the Christmas caroling group, leading Jessica to eventually alienate the group, including Evan, before seeing the error of her ways. Honey keeps sneaking around Marvin’s back to see Titanic with Louis. Nicole asks Eddie for advice talking to a barista. I enjoyed the episode.

The Middle, “The Christmas Miracle.” “Frankie and Sue are devastated when Axl informs them that he’s not going to church; Mike goes to war with the Glossner kids after they keep defacing his giant inflatable snowman; Brick attempts to wrap his first present.”

Black-ish, “Sugar Daddy.” Andre is diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Naturally, he falls prey to panic and trying to cure it with alternative medicine. He does have a funny It’s a Wonderful Life / A Christmas Carol dream sequence, where he sees his family move on after his death (it involves a lot of them being happy that Rick Fox is their new dad). Also, Jack is worried DeVante doesn’t like him.

The Mayor, “Grey Christmas.” This episode goes full-on It’s a Wonderful Life, as we get Courtney, frustrated he can’t do more to put on a proper Christmas party, suggesting the town would’ve been better off if he’d never won, and getting a dream sequence where that’s the case (Ed Gunt really lavishly decorates his mayor’s office). It’s a nice button on the first half season (I’m not sure what the full order is, but I heard they recently ordered three more scripts) and a reminder that everything we do, however small, matters.
